To Keep Body and Soul Together

To keep body and soul together
I drink the wind through trees
And eat the tumbling river.
I chew on snow topped peaks,

Sip vintage prairies’ skies.
Deep valleys are dessert to me
Cloud robed hills whet appetite.
Most satisfying, though, the sea

Where storms and sunsets, red or blue
With peace and power feed me full;
Whose sight, whose dawn brought calm,
End of wind’s fury, dying storm’s

Softness, then, mere sound of new day
Whispers life to me, and You at play.
